Christ Died for the Ungodly Romans 5:6

Paul the apostle told the Jews in Rome, we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience, and patience, experience; and experience, hope.” He added, “and hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” In chapter five and verse six of Romans, Paul shared how, “Christ died for the ungodly” where we read:

For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
The verse begins, For when we were yet without strength, ...” Paul began with the words, “for” which means “even, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and therefore” “when we” which refers to “Paul, his companions and believing readers” “were without strength” or “were weak, infirm and feeble”. Paul referred the “feeble and weak” state of himself, his companions and those believing people who read this letter.

The verse continues, ... in due time Christ died for the ungodly.Paul added the words, “in due time” which means “down from, through out, according to and toward a fixed and definite time, the time when things are brought to crisis and the decisive epoch waited for” “Christ” or “the anointed One, the Messiah and the son of God” “died” which means “perished by a violent means” “for” or “in behalf of and for the sake of” “the ungodly” which means “people who were destitute of reverential awe towards God, condemning God and impious”. Paul shared how Jesus “died” at the “fixed and definite time” for people who were “impious” and “condemning” of God.

When we meditate upon these words of Paul, we marvel at the awesome commitment of God toward people who are opposed to Him. When we are “weak and feeble”, “condemning and impious”, God sent His Son Jesus into the world to “die” for our sins. We can hardly imagine the magnitude of the “love of God” for people who regard Him not, and yet, this is how much He desires to have a relationship with us. As we allow this idea to permeate our spirits, let us bow in reverence and awe before such a “loving God” who was and is committed to us even when we have no respect for Him.

Next time Paul shares how, scarcely for a righteous man will one die ”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
