Glory in Tribulations Romans 5:3

Paul the apostle shared with the Jews in Rome concerning, being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God”, and in chapter five and verse three of Romans, Paul shared how, “we glory in tribulations also” where we read:

And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience;
The verse begins, “And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also:Paul began with the words, “and not only so” which means “not solely and alone”, “but” which is a disassociation conjunction that means what is about to be written takes precedence over what was just stated “we glory” which means “Paul, his companions and his believing readers rejoice, boast and have joy” “in tribulations” or “in afflictions, troubles, anguishes, burdens and persecutions” “also” or “even so and indeed”. Paul shared how those who believe in Jesus not only have “access” to God, but also “rejoice” when they encounter “afflictions and troubles”.

The verse continues, ... knowing that tribulation works patience;Paul added the word, “knowing” which means “perceiving and understanding” “that tribulation” or “afflictions, troubles, anguishes, burdens and persecutions” “works” which means “performs, accomplishes, achieves and renders” “patience” which refers to “steadfastness, constancy, endurance and sustaining perseverance”. Paul shared how he knew “afflictions and troubles” result in “constancy and sustaining perseverance”.

When we meditate upon these words of Paul, we might be challenged by the idea of “rejoicing in tribulations”. However, when we realize the benefit of “afflictions and troubles” is “patience”, we may grow in our understanding. Jesus Christ suffered great “tribulation” to pay for the “sins” of the whole world, and the benefit was to all who believe and trust in Him. “Sustaining perseverance” shall be given to everyone who endures “tribulations”, and those who trust in Jesus shall know how to “glory” in them.

Next time Paul shares how,patience” works “experience; and experience, hope, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
