Ignorant of the Way of Peace Romans 3:17

Paul the apostle told the Jews in Rome, “There is none righteous, no, not one:” There is none that understands, there is none that seeks after God”, and he added, “they are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that does good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulcher; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways:” In chapter three and verse seventeen of Romans, Paul shared how they have “not known”, “the way of peace” where we read:

And the way of peace have they not known:

The verse begins, “and the way of peace... Paul began with the words, “and the way” which refers to “and the journey, course of conduct, thinking, feeling and deciding” “of peace” or “tranquillity, harmony, concord, security, safety, prosperity and felicity”. Paul referred to “God's” “course” of “harmony, security and safety”.

The verse continues, “... have they not knownPaul added the words, “have they not” which means “the people to whom Paul referred have not at all” “known” or “come to knowledge of, perceived or understood”. Paul declared these people knew nothing about God's “harmony and concord”.

When we meditate upon these words of Paul, we see how those who “forsook the ways of God” also knew nothing of “God's peace”. God desires to give His “peace” to everyone through His Son Jesus Christ, and those who have received Jesus have not only “peace” with God, but also the “peace of God” no matter what circumstances come into their lives.

Next time Paul continues to tell the people in Rome how their “eyes have”, no fear of God, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
