Both Jew and Gentiles All Under Sin Romans 3:9

Paul the apostle asked the Jews in Rome, “how shall God judge the world?”, and he added, “for if the truth of God has more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,)
Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.” In chapter three and verse nine of Romans, Paul shared how, “we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles” where we read:

What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise:
for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;

The verse begins, “What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise:” Paul began with the words, “what then” which means “therefore, accordingly, consequently and these things being so” “are we better” or “are the Jews,Paul and his companions advanced, preeminent, surpassing in excellencies which can be passed to one's credit” “than they” which refers to “than the Gentiles”? “No” or “not at all” “in no wise” which means “in and by no means”. Paul questioned whether the “Jews” were “surpassing in excellencies” over the “Gentiles” and answered, “not at all”.

The verse goes on to say, “for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;” Paul added the words, “for” which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and therefore” “we have before proved” or “Paul and his companions previously showed and accused” “both Jews” or “not only those belonging to the Jewish nation as respects to birth, origin and religion but also” “and Gentiles” which means “people with the name embraces all nations not Jews that made the language, customs, and learning of the Greeks their own”, “that they” which refers to “both Jews and Gentiles” “are all under sin” which means “are each, every, the whole and everyone beneath error, mistake and missing of the mark”. Paul and his companions previously “showed” the “Jews and Gentiles” to be guilty of “sin”.

When we think through these words of Paul, we see how all people, regardless of their nations of origin, are “under” the curse of “sin”. No one is exempt, and every person has violated the “law of God”. Some people believe themselves to having a special exemption to “sin” and it's penalty because they were born in a certain country or culture. Paul declared this to be untrue. Everyone has “sinned”, and everyone is in need of a “Savior” from “sin's penalty” - death. Jesus Christ came to pay the price for everyone's “sin” on the cross, and when He did, He provided “access” to God through “belief and trust” in Him. Let all who read these words realize their “guilt of sin”, turn their hearts to Him in repentance and receive Him as “Savior and Lord”.

Next time Paul tells the people in Rome, “there is none righteous, no, not one”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
