Imputed for Righteousness Romans 4:22

Paul the apostle told the Jews in Rome Abraham “staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God”, and he added, “And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.” In chapter four and verse twenty-two of Romans, Paul shared how Abraham's belief, “was imputed to him for righteousness” where we read:

And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
The verse begins, “And therefore it was imputed to him ...” Paul began with the words, “and therefore” which means “and wherefore, on account of and consequently” “it was imputed” or “Abraham's faith was reckoned, counted, computed and calculated” “to him” which refers to “to Abraham”. Paul shared how Abraham's “faith” in God's promise cause it to be “reckoned and accounted” to him.

The verse goes on to say, ... for righteousness.Paul added the word, “for” which means “towards and unto” “righteousness” or “the state of him who is as he ought to be and the condition acceptable to God”. Paul shared how “righteousness” and rite standing before God was “accounted” to Abraham for his “faith” in His promise.

When we meditate upon these words of Paul, we see the benefit and blessing that was given to Abraham because he believed “God's promise”. His belief and trust in God's word made him “righteous” before God, and those who believe in Jesus Christ to be their “Savior and Lord” shall be “reckoned” the same. Jesus came to save people from their sins, and “God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life”. (John 3:16)

Next time Paul tells the people in Rome how, “it was not written for his sake alone, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
