The Atonement Received Through Jesus Romans 5:11

Paul the apostle told the Jews in Rome, “if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life, and in chapter five and verse eleven of Romans, Paul shared how we are, “now justified by his blood” and will “be saved from wrath through him” where we read:

And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
by whom we have now received the atonement.
The verse begins, And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, ...Paul began with the words, “and not only” which means “and not solely or alone”, “so, but” which means “nevertheless, notwithstanding, yes and moreover “we also joy” which means “Paul, his companions and his believing readers' glory, boast and rejoice”“in God” which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “through” or “by way and means of” “our Lord” which refers to “Paul, his companions and his believing readers' one to whom a person or thing belongs and about which he has power of deciding; master and the title given to God the Messiah” “Jesus” whose name means “Jehovah is Salvation” and is “the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate” “Christ” which refers to “the anointed One, the Messiah and the Son of God”. Paul shared how he and his companions and readers “rejoice” because of Jesus.

The verse continues, ... by whom we have now received the atonement.Paul continued with the words, “by whom” which means “through Jesus” “we have now received” or “Paul, his companions and his readers have at the present moment and time taken, laid hold upon, claimed, procured and apprehended” “the atonement” which refers to “the great exchange, adjustment of a difference, reconciliation and restoration favor of God to sinners that repent and put their trust in the expiatory death of Christ”. Paul shared how he, his companions and his readers had also been “reconciled” and “at one” with God because of Jesus.

When we consider these words of Paul, we see how “believers” in Jesus are able to “rejoice” in God and be “reconciled” with Him. Those who believe in Jesus shall be “justified by his blood”, “saved from wrath through him”, “joy in God” and have “received the atonement”. One wonders why anyone would reject such beautiful benefits, and they are available to everyone. Let all who read these words consider carefully God's offer of salvation and “receive” His Son Jesus today.

Next time Paul shares what happened when, “as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
