A Woman with a Possessed Daughter - Mark 7:25

Mark wrote how Jesus, “arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no man know it: but he could not be hid”, and in chapter seven and verse twenty-five of his book, Mark shared about, “a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit … came” where we read:

For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit,

heard of him, and came and fell at his feet:

The verse reads,For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, ...Mark began with the words, “for a certain woman” which means “because, since and on account that a particular female person”, “whose young daughter” or “who had a young virgin daughter” “had an unclean spirit” which means “was possessed by a demonic, foul, morally lewd and impure simple essence, devoid of all or at least all grosser matter, and possessed of the power of knowing, desiring, deciding, and acting ”. Mark shared how there was a particular “woman” who had a “young daughter” who was possessed with a “devil”.

The verse continues, “... heard of him, and came and fell at his feet:” Mark added the words, “heard of him” which means “was given the faculty of hearing, perceived, discerned and discovered Jesus”, “and came” or “appeared and came forth” “and fell at his feet” which means “and prostrated herself at Jesus' feet”. Mark shared how the woman with the demon possessed daughter heard about Jesus, came to Him and prostrated herself at His feet.

When we consider Mark's words in this verse, we see how this woman was desperate to help her “daughter” possessed by a “demon”. She “heard” about Jesus and believed He was her answer. She found Jesus and fell at His feet to worship and revere Him as she humbled herself in His presence. God loves people to approach Him through His Son Jesus in the same manner as this woman, and when they “believe and trust” in Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”, He is willing to assist them in whatever they need. Let all who read these words yield their lives to Jesus who always observes those who bow before Him in reverence and awe.

Next time Mark shares how the, “woman was a Greek, A Syrophenician by nation”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
