What wonder comes and awe inspired
when incarnation thought
that God would dwell with mortal man
whom He salvation brought
Creator God twas formed in flesh
eternal born in time
upon one day thus set aside
commissioned by divine
Existed He from ages all
thru matron virgin birthed
the promised one from eld of time
now present here on earth
The omnipresent thus became
specific within time
as entered He within the realm
of perfect paradigm
The light made entrance in the dark
the way for wearied bleak
from Heaven's throne the Sovereign King
the strong became as weak
Begotten Son not formed nor made
in mother's womb He shaped
short there to live until noel
brought forth as helpless babe
Maker of man became a soul
this ruler of the stars
to feed at breast and eat of bread
to drink from fountains carved
The Son of God without begin
appeared as mortal man
who suffered evil though did none
redemption's purposed plan
The truth accused by witness false
the Judge condemned for wrong
came forth the good for wicked hearts
the trying hateful throng
The healer born to suffer wounds
the chaste undignified
the courage weakened by onslaught
security maligned
The disciplined bore scourge with whips
formed grapes yet crowned with thorns
though world's foundation He produced
suspend from cross of scorn
Though life He gave yet came to die
the worthy pure demeaned
to free the sinful souls of men
that separated breed
And though not all will yield to Him
yet He did come to them
by incarnation He brought forth
God's benefits to men
