Jesus Preaching and Teaching Again - Luke 8:1

Luke the beloved physician shared how Jesus acknowledged a woman who washed His feet with her tears and hair and told her “your faith has saved you; go in peace”, and in chapter eight and verse one of his book Luke shared how Jesus, “went throughout every city and village, preaching and showing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God” where we read:

And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and showing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,

The verse reads, “And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and showing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God” Luke began with the words, “and it came to pass afterward” or “and it happened and came into being successively and in order”, “that he went throughout every city” which means “that Jesus traveled and passed through each, all and everyone of the dwelling places, habitations and towns” “and village” or “and common sleeping places to which laborers in the fields return”, “preaching” which means “heralding, proclaiming and publishing openly” “and showing the glad tidings” or “and bringing, declaring and announcing the good and joyful news of the coming and salvation” “of the kingdom of God” which means “pertaining to the royal power, kingship, dominion and rule belonging to the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Luke shared after Jesus departed from Simon the Pharisee's house, He began to travel through all the surrounding “towns and villages” where He proclaimed the “gospel” of the “Kingdom of God”.

The verse continues, “and the twelve were with him,” Luke added the words, “and the twelve” which means “and Jesus' twelve disciples” “were with him” or “were alongside and traveling with Jesus”. Luke shared how Jesus' twelve disciples also traveled with Him through the villages and towns.

When we consider Luke's words in this verse, we learn about Jesus being on the move again. Jesus wanted people from all the surrounding towns and villages to know about God's “gospel” or “good news”. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to save people from their sins so they could live in His Kingdom forever, and anyone who humbles themselves before Jesus, asks Him to forgive their sinful ways and allow Him to be the Lord of their life will be saved and inherit eternal life with God. Those who are wise will “travel” alongside Jesus into the “Kingdom of God” where His “disciples” follow Him wherever He leads.

Next time we see Luke share about, “Mary called Magdalene”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
