Pilate Willing to Release Jesus - Luke 23:20

Luke the beloved physician wrote how Pilate said of Jesus, “I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof you accuse him. No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him. I will therefore chastise him, and release him. (For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.) And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas. (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)”, and in chapter twenty-three and verse twenty of his book Luke shared, “Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spoke again” where we read:

Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spoke again to them.

The verse reads, “Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, ... Luke began with the words, “Pilate, therefore or “Pilate whose name means armed with a spear and was the sixth Roman procurator of Judah and Samaria then, wherefore and consequently” “willing to release” which means “” “Jesus” who is “the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation”. Luke shared how “Pilate” continued to seek to set “Jesus” free.

The verse goes on to say, “... spoke again to them. Luke continued with the words, “spoke again” which means “summoned, addressed and called another time” “to them” or “to the religious leaders and multitude”. Luke shared how “Pilate” “addressed or appealed to” the “religious leaders and multitude” another time.

When we think through Luke's words in this verse, we learn how “Pilate” appealed to the “religious leaders and multitude” another time because he wanted to set Jesus free. “Pilate” eventually would not prevail, but we have to admire his desire to “release” Jesus. Every person basically sits in the judgment seat like “Pilate”, and everyone determines whether Jesus will be the “Savior and Lord” of their life or be “sent away”. All who receive Jesus will be forgiven of their sins and receive everlasting life with God. Let all who read these words understand what an ominous position they hold, and their eternal future depends upon their decision.

Next time we see Luke share how the religious leaders and multitude, “cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
