What's the Kingdom of God Like? - Luke 13:20

The beloved physician Luke wrote how Jesus asked, “Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it”, and in chapter thirteen and verse twenty of his book Luke shared how Jesus asked again, “whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God?” where we read:

And again he said, Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God?

The verse reads, “And again he said, ...” Luke began with the words, “and again” or “and another time” “he said” which means “Jesus uttered, declared, proclaimed and asked” the following words.. Luke shared how Jesus began to speak of the “Kingdom of God” with the following question.

The verse goes on to say, “... Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God?” Luke continued with the words, “whereunto shall I liken” or “to what will Jesus compare or illustrate” “the kingdom of God” which means “the royal power, kingship, dominion and rule of the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”? Luke shared how Jesus questioned again what was “similar” to “God's Kingdom”.

When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we see how Jesus desired to provide another illustration for what “God's Kingdom” is like. Jesus wanted people to have some understanding about God's rule and dominion in the world, and He wants to have a personal relationship with them. Jesus came to the world to die for the “sins” of mankind, and when a person submits their life to Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”, they are forgiven of their “sins”, included in His Kingdom as His children and shall receive “everlasting life” with God.

Next time Luke shares how Jesus says the Kingdom of God, “is like leaven”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
