The beloved physician Luke wrote concerning Jesus, “Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. When once the master of the house is risen up, and has shut to the door, and you begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not who you are. Then shall you begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in your presence, and you have taught in our streets. But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not who you are; depart from me, all you workers of iniquity. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out”, and in chapter thirteen and verse twenty-nine of his book Luke shared how Jesus said, “they shall come from the east, west, north and south” where we read:
And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north,
and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.
The verse reads, “And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, ...” Luke began with the words, “and they shall come” or “and people will arise, appear and make entrance” “from the east” which means “apart from the eastward direction”, “and from the west” or “and apart from the westward direction”, “and from the north” which means “and apart from the northern direction”. Luke shared how people will arise, appear and make entrance from the “east, west and north”.
The verse continues, “... and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.” Luke added the words, “and from the south” or “and apart from the southern direction”, “and shall sit down” which means “and will be seated, fixed and established” “in the kingdom of God” or “within the royal power, rule, dominion and reign of the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Luke shared how people will also arise, appear and make entrance from the southern direction and be seated in “God's Kingdom”.
When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we see how people shall come from the four quadrants of the world to make entrance into God's Kingdom. “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (See John 3:16), and the book of Revelation says, “And they sung a new song, saying, You are worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for you were slain, and have redeemed us to God by your blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation” (See Revelation 5:9), and God's desire is to have everyone with Him in Heaven. Only those who receive His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord” will be given entrance to God's Kingdom, and those people shall come from all over the world to live forever with Him.
Next time Luke shares how Jesus says, “there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
