Your Father's Good Pleasure - Luke 12:32

The beloved physician Luke wrote how Jesus instructed people to, “seek not you what you shall eat, or what you shall drink, neither be you of doubtful mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knows that you have need of these things. But rather seek you the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you”, and in chapter twelve and verse thirty-two of his book Luke shared how Jesus said, it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdomwhere we read:

Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

The verse reads, “Fear not, little flock; Luke began with the words, “fear not” or “do not be afraid, be put to flight, flee or be struck with fear and seized with alarm”, “little flock” which means “small and tiny group of Christ's disciples”. Luke shared how Jesus likened the people to a “small flock of sheep”, and He told them not to be “afraid”.

The verse goes on to say, “for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” Luke added the words, “for it is your Father's” or “because, since and on account that it is God the Father's” “good pleasure” which means “willing preference, choice and favorable inclination” “to give you” or “to bestow, grant, supply and furnish to the people listening to Him” “the kingdom” which means “the royal power, rule, reign and dominion”. Luke shared how God the Father takes “pleasure” in granting His “Kingdom” to those who believe and trust in Him.

When we consider Luke's words in this verse, we see Jesus comforting and promising those who yield their lives to Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”. God desires people to believe and trust in His Son Jesus, and when they submit their lives to Him, He will “give” them His “Kingdom”. The idea is they will become a part of the Kingdom of God, and throughout all eternity, they will enjoy the presence of Him. Jesus Christ came into the world to die for the sins of every person, and when they trust in, rely upon and cling to Him, they become “sons and daughters” of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Next time Luke shares how Jesus says, “sell that you have, and give alms”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
