The beloved physician Luke wrote how Jesus said, “this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. Be you therefore ready also: for the Son of man comes at an hour when you think not. And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?”, and in chapter twelve and verse forty-three of his book Luke shared how Jesus said, “blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he comes shall find so doing” where we read:
Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he comes shall find so doing.
The verse reads, “Blessed is that servant, ...” Luke began with the word, “Blessed” or “oh how happy, fortunate and well off” “is that servant” which means “exists the man of servile condition, slave and bondman”. Luke shared how Jesus said the person who “serves” is “happy and fortunate” when the following condition occurs.
The verse continues, “... whom his lord when he comes shall find so doing.” Luke added the words, “whom his lord” or “who is the person whether male or female that their one to whom a person or thing belongs, about which he has power of deciding; master and the title given to God the Messiah” “when he comes” which means “at the time and moment the lord arises and appears” “shall find so doing” or “will discover by inquiry, examination, scrutiny, observation, practice and experience the person performing, producing and preparing”. Luke shared how Jesus commended the person who is “producing” through “faith” and being a “wise steward”.
When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus said the person who “serves” the Lord will be “made happy and fortunate” when He returns because they are busy about Kingdom activities. God desires to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and when they believe and trust in Him, He will use them in His Kingdom to share with others concerning their faith. A person who relies upon, trusts in and clings to Jesus will enjoy the pleasures of God's Kingdom for all eternity, and those who are wise will yield their lives to the One who will “find them doing” when He returns.
Next time Luke shares how Jesus says the lord, “will make him ruler over all that he has”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
