In Psalms chapter ten David said, “the wicked boasts of his heart's desire, and … his mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity. He sits in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places does he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor. He lies in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lies in wait to catch the poor: he does catch the poor, when he draws him into his net. He crouches, and humbles himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones. He has said in his heart, God has forgotten: he hides his face; he will never see it”, and in Psalms chapter ten and verse twelve David said, “Arise, O LORD, O God, lift up your hand” where we read,
Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up your hand: forget not the humble.
The verse begins, “Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up your hand:” David began with the words, “Arise, O LORD” which means “get up, rise and stand, O Jehovah who is the existing One and the One True God”: “O God” or “O mighty and powerful One True God” “lift up your hand” which means “raise, exalt and hold high your, One True God's, hand of power, direction and strength”. David called upon Almighty God to raise His hand of power and strength.
The verse continues, “forget not the humble.” David added the words, “forget not” or “do not cease to care for, ignore or be oblivious to” “the humble” which means “the poor, afflicted and lowly”. David cried out for God not to be oblivious to people who are afflicted and lowly.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David responded to the wicked person's thoughts concerning God forgetting and not seeing the acts and deeds of the wicked. He called upon the One True God to respond to their wickedness by raising His hand of power, and he appealed to God not to be oblivious to what was happening to the unfortunate and poor. God knows. God sees, and He cares about those who are afflicted by wicked people. He will judge those who oppress others, and we should be aware of God's attentiveness to the poor and unfortunate. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and everyone is guilty of sin in some measure. Everyone is in need of a “Savior”, Jesus, (“there is none righteous, no, not one” See Romans 3:10), and all are guilty of taking advantage of others in some measure or another. When we submit ourselves to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us eternal life with Him and begin to cleanse wickedness from our hearts and lives. God has risen up. He has not forgotten the “humble”, and He sent His Son Jesus to rescue and save every person who surrenders to Him.
Next time David asks, “Wherefore does the wicked contemn God?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
