Grievous Ways - Psalms 10:5

In Psalms chapter ten David asked, “Why stand you afar off, O LORD? why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? The wicked in his pride does persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined. For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire, and blesses the covetous, whom the LORD abhors. The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts”, and in Psalms chapter ten and verse five David said, “His ways are always grievous where we read,

His ways are always grievous; your judgments are far above out of his sight:

as for all his enemies, he puffs at them.

The verse begins, His ways are always grievous; your judgments are far above out of his sight:” David began with the words, “His ways” which means “the wicked person's path, journey, direction, manner and habits” “are always grievous” or “exist at all times in writhing, anguish and pain”; “your judgments” which means “your, the One True Supreme God's, ordinances, processes, procedures and litigations” “are far above” or “exist as elevated, aloft and upward” “out of his sight” which means “are unseen, not perceived and beyond the wicked person's ability to see”. David shared how the manner and habits of the “wicked person” seem prosperous even though they are performed in anguish, and the idea of God's procedures and litigations are unseen by them.

The verse goes on to say,as for all his enemies, he puffs at them.David continues with the words, “as for all his enemies” or “in relationship to each, every, the whole and everyone of the wicked person's vexing and harassing adversaries and foes”, “he puffs at them” which means “the wicked person sneers and scoffs at their adversaries and foes”. David wrote how wicked people also “scoff and sneer” at their “harassing adversaries”.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn from David how the “wicked person” is so “prideful” that they believe their ways that are prosperous and beyond the sight and “judgment” of Almighty God. They “scoff” at their enemies because they believe themselves beyond being hurt by them. God knows the sinful condition of all people, and He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we submit to Him, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life. Without a personal relationship with Him, we can believe we are “okay”, filled with “pride” and unable to be hurt by any opposing foe. God is making us aware of our need for Him and His Son Jesus, and we can humble ourselves before Him, turn from our wicked and grievous ways and praise Him for His “salvation” through His Son Jesus Christ.

Next time David says, He has said in his heart, I shall not be moved, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
