In Psalms chapter ten David said, “the wicked boasts of his heart's desire, and blesses the covetous, whom the LORD abhors. The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. His ways are always grievous; your judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffs at them”, and in Psalms chapter ten and verse six David said, “He has said in his heart, I shall not be moved” where we read,
He has said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.
The verse begins, “He has said in his heart, I shall not be moved:” David began with the words, “He has said in his heart” which means “the wicked person uttered, declared and proclaimed within their inner man, mind, will, understanding and soul”, “I shall not be moved” or “I, the wicked person, will in no way or manner be tottered, shaken, overthrown or dislodged”: David shared how the wicked person believes within their soul that they are unconquerable and will never be overthrown.
The verse continues, “for I shall never be in adversity.” David added the words, “for I shall never” or “because, since and on account that I, the wicked person, will at no time” “be in adversity” which means “exist in unpleasantness, malignancy, pain, misery and unhappiness”. David wrote how the wicked person believes they will at no time face misery and unhappiness.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn from David more about the mindset of the person who thinks and acts wickedly. They believe they are invincible, and there will at no time exist any unpleasantness or misery within their lives. In other words, they live in the fantasy of their “hearts”. God knows every person. He created them, and He is aware of the difficulties that arise in life. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross so people could come to Him and be forgiven for their sins and granted eternal life with Him. Those who live in wickedness are deceived if they think they will never be conquered or experience difficulties and troubles, and we are wise when we surrender ourselves to Jesus who is aware of everything we encounter and is willing to come to our aid in time of need.
Next time David says, “His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
