In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Many seek the ruler's favor; but every man's judgment comes from the LORD”, and in chapter twenty-nine and verse twenty-seven of Proverbs Solomon said, “an unjust man is an abomination to the just” where we read,
An unjust man is an abomination to the just:
and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.
The verse begins, “An unjust man is an abomination to the just:” Solomon began with the words, “an unjust man” or “a person whether male or female who is unrighteous, wrong, violent and perverse” “is an abomination” which means “exists as disgusting, abhorrent and idolatrous” “to the just” or “toward people who are righteous, lawful and correct”. Solomon said a person who is unrighteous and perverse is disgusting to a person who is lawful and correct.
The verse continues, “and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.” Solomon added the words, “and he that is upright” or “and he, the person whether male or female, who exists as straight, right, correct, fitting and proper” “in the way” which means “within the journey, path, manner and course of life” “is abomination” or “exists as disgusting, abhorrent and idolatrous” “to the wicked” which means “toward the person who is criminal, guilty of crime, evil and hostile to God”. Solomon said the person who is straight and correct in their course of life is disgusting to the person who is evil and hostile to God.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how each of these people are disgusting to one another. People who unrighteous are abhorrent to those who are lawful, and the lawful are abhorrent to those who are evil. God wants us to be right and just according to His ways, and when we yield to His Son Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to be lawful and right as we consider the unrighteous to be abhorrent even as God does.
Next time we begin a new chapter and see, “the words of Agur the son of Jakeh”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
