When the Wicked are Multiplied - Proverbs 29:16

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “the rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself brings his mother to shame”, and in chapter twenty-nine and verse sixteen of Proverbs Solomon shared what happens, “when the wicked are multiplied” where we read,

When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increases:

but the righteous shall see their fall.

The verse begins, “When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increases:” Solomon began with the words, “when the wicked are multiplied” or “at the time and moment people who are criminal, guilty of crime, evil and hostile to God are abundant, grow, and become great and numerous”, “transgression increases” which means “revolt, rebellion and sin becomes great, more numerous and abundant”. Solomon said at the time and moment people who are evil and hostile to God are abundant, sin and wrong becomes more numerous as well. 

The verse goes on to say, “... but the righteous shall see their fall.” Solomon continued with the words, “but the righteous” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover people who are right, just, correct and lawful” “shall see their fall” which means “will perceive, discern and observe their, the wicked people's, overthrow, ruin and decadence”. Solomon said people who are right and just will observe the overthrow and ruin of people who are evil and hostile to God. 

When we meditate upon Solomon's words in this verse, we learn at the time people who are evil and hostile to God are more numerous, sin and wrong are more abundant as well. However, people who are correct and lawful will observe their ruin and destruction. God gives us warnings in His word, the Bible, for the ways we are to live, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to observe the ruin of the “wicked” while we are never a part of their sinful ways.
