With No Vision the People Perish - Proverbs 29:18

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Correct your son, and he shall give you rest; he shall give delight unto your soul”, and in chapter twenty-nine and verse eighteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “where there is no vision, the people perish” where we read,

Where there is no vision, the people perish:

but he that keeps the law, happy is he.

The verse begins, Where there is no vision, the people perish: Solomon began with the words, “where there is no vision” or “in the place and location there exists not any dream, revelation or oracle”, “the people perish” which means “the nation, people groups, compatriots and country-men do not accept divine guidance, cast off restraint and run wild”. Solomon said in the place there exists not any dream or oracle the compatriots and country-men cast off restraint and run wild.

The verse goes on to say, “but he that keeps the law, happy is he. Solomon continued with the words, “but he that keeps the law” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the person whether male or female who guards, observes, protects and watches over direction, instruction, precepts and statutes”, “happy is he” which means “blessed exists the person”. Solomon said the person who observes statutes and instruction exists as blessed.

When we consider Solomon's words in this verse, we discover how important it is for there to be a dream or revelation for people to prosper, and without them, they run wild. The person who observes the statutes and principles of Jehovah God will be blessed, and God wants everyone to be blessed by Him. He gave His Son Jesus to the world to die on the cross for the sins of everyone, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us the value of having “vision” and observing His “law” so we will be blessed all our lives.

Next time Solomon says, “a servant will not be corrected by words”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
