In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “If a ruler hearkens to lies, all his servants are wicked”, and in chapter twenty-nine and verse thirteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “the poor and the deceitful man meet together” where we read,
The poor and deceitful man meet together:
the LORD lightens both their eyes.
The verse begins, “The poor and deceitful man meet together:” Solomon began with the words, “the poor” or “the person who is in want, need, impoverished and destitute” “and deceitful man” which means “and the injurious, oppressive and dissever person whether male or female” “meet together” or “join, encounter and concur with one another”. Solomon said the impoverished person and the oppressive person concur with one another.
The verse continues, “the LORD lightens both their eyes.” Solomon added with the words, “the LORD” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “lightens both their eyes” which means “makes bright, illuminates and sets on fire their, the poor and deceitful person's, physical eyes and mental and spiritual faculties”. Solomon said Jehovah God brightens and illuminates the physical eyes and mental and spiritual faculties of the “poor and deceitful” person.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how people who are impoverished and people who are oppressive make an alliance with one another, however, Jehovah God illuminates their mental and spiritual faculties. God knows we all have sinned, (See Romans 3:23), and the wages for that sin is death. (See Romans 6:23) He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and He raised Him from the dead three days afterwards. When we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and illuminate sin in our lives that does not align with Him commandments and ways.
Next time Solomon shares about, “the king that faithfully judges the poor”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
