The King Faithfully Judging - Proverbs 29:14

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “the poor and deceitful man meet together: the LORD lightens both their eyes”, and in chapter twenty-nine and verse fourteen of Proverbs Solomon shared about, “the king that faithfully judges the poor” where we read,

The king that faithfully judges the poor,

his throne shall be established for ever.

The verse begins, The king that faithfully judges the poor, ... Solomon began with the words, “the king” or “the royal ruler or leader” “that faithfully judges the poor” which means “who governs, vindicates and defends the impoverished and in need in a firm, stable, truthful, sure and reliable manner”. Solomon referred to the royal leader who vindicates and defends people who are impoverished and destitute in a truthful and reliable way.

The verse goes on to say, “... his throne shall be established for ever. Solomon continued with the words, “his throne” or “his, the king's, seat of honor, dignity, authority and power” “shall be established” which means “will exist as fixed, set, put and made stable and secure” “for ever” or “unto perpetuity, eternity and the continuing future”. Solomon said the “king” who vindicates and defends people who are impoverished in a truthful and reliable manner will have his seat of authority continue unto perpetuity.

When we think through Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how a royal leader's seat of authority lasts perpetually. When the leader defends people who are in poverty in a truthful manner, they will continue in charge. God considers the “poor”, and when we yield to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, we will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and empowered by His Holy Spirit to think about people in poverty and to care for them like He does.

Next time Solomon says, “the rod and reproof give wisdom”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
