Jesus Did Many Other Signs - John 20:30

John the apostle wrote how, “Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Then said he to Thomas, Reach here your finger, and behold my hands; and reach here your hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Jesus said unto him, Thomas, because you have seen me, you have believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed”, and in chapter twenty and verse thirty of his book John shared how, “many other signs truly did Jesus” where we read:

And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples,

which are not written in this book:

The verse begins, “And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, ...” John began with the words, “and many other signs” which means “and a lot, numerous and abundant number of marks, tokens, unusual occurrences and miracles” “truly did Jesus” or “certainly, surely and indeed performed, made ready and produced the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation” “in the presence of his disciples” which means “before and in front of his, Jesus', students, pupils and attendants”. John shared how “Jesus” performed numerous more miracles in front of His “disciples”.

The verse goes on to say, “... which are not written in this book:” John continued with the words, “which are not written” or “that are not delineated or form in letters and words” “in this book” which means “within this writing, written document or scroll”. John shared how the many other signs and miracles were not inscribed in the “book” he has written.

When we think through John's words in this verse, we learn how there were an abundant supply of other miracles and wonders that Jesus performed in the presence of His disciples. John included some of them, but there were so many other ones that he was unable to write about them all. Jesus performed these miracles to show people He is indeed the Christ and Messiah of God, and anyone who believes and trusts in Him as their personal “Savior and Lord” will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with God. Let all who consider John's words yield themselves to Jesus who performed all these miracles so they might believe.

Next time John shares how, “these things are written, that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
