The
Hebrew writer shared how the “first principles”
of God included “repentance from dead works, faith toward
God, baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the
dead, and of eternal judgment”,
and in chapter six and verse three of Hebrews the writer shares
what he and his readers “will do” this
“if God permit” where we read:
And this
will we do, if God permit.
The
verse begins, “And this will we do”. The
writer began with the words, “And this”
which refers to “the idea of leaving the basic
principles” “will
we do” which means “the
writer of Hebrews and his readers will make, produce, construct, form
and fashion”. The Hebrew writer began to “leave the
first principles” of the word
to go on to more “mature” subject matter.
The
verse goes on to say, “if God permit”. The
writer continued, “If God” which
refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God
the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “permit”
or “allow, give lease, transfer, commit and intrust”. The writer
desired to leave these beginning “principles”
if God allowed it to be.
When
we meditate upon these words in Hebrews, we understand the writer's
desire to leave from sharing about the “basic principles” of
Christianity to go on to more mature concepts. However, he submitted
himself to the the “will of God”. If God allowed it, he
would go on. This is an important concept with our relationship with
God. Though our idea may be a good one, it is always best to rely
upon God's will. Jesus desires to have a relationship with us that is
dependent upon us submitting to His will. This “mature” concept
of Christianity is our first advance lesson demonstrated by the
writer of Hebrews.
Next
time the writer share what is
“impossible for those once
enlightened”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
