No Man Allowed into the Room with Jesus - Luke 8:51

The beloved physician Luke wrote how, “there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house. For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him. And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched. And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng you and press you, and say you, Who touched me? And Jesus said, Somebody has touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: your faith has made you whole; go in peace. And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: your faith has made you whole; go in peace. While he yet spoke, there came one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Your daughter is dead; trouble not the Master. But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole”, and in chapter eight and verse fifty-one of his book Luke shared when Jesus, “came into the house, he suffered no man to go in” where we read:

And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in,

save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.

The verse reads, “And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, ... Luke began with the words, “and when” or “and at the time and moment” “he came into the house” which means “Jesus arose, appeared and entered into the dwelling place, abode and habitation of Jairus”, “he suffered not man” or “Jesus did not allow or permit any other people” “to go in” which means “to enter the house”. Luke shared how Jesus entered Jairus' home and would not allow other people to “enter” with Him.

The verse goes on to say, “... save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.” Luke continued with the words, “save Peter” which means “except for Jesus' disciple named Peter which means a little rock or stone”, “and James” or “and Jesus' disciple named James which means supplanter”, “and the father and mother” which means “and the male and female progenitors” “of the maiden” or “belonging to the young girl”. Luke shared how Jesus made five exceptions, Peter, James, John and the mother and father of the girl, for whom He would allow to enter into the room where the young girl lay.

When we think through Luke's words in this verse, we see how Jesus persisted in His willingness to help Jairus' daughter. Though many people were gathered at Jairus' home, Jesus would only allow a select few people to enter where the girl lay. Jesus had a plan, and He was determined to work it out. Those who put their faith and trust in Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord” shall find Him ready and able to manage any situation they encounter, and when they examine this story of Jairus' daughter, may their faith be increased for whatever they believe Jesus for today.

Next time Luke shares how, “all wept, and bewailed her”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
