Blessed are Your Eyes Which See - Luke 10:23

The beloved physician Luke shares how Jesus said, “All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knows who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him”, and in chapter ten and verse twenty-three of his book Luke shared Jesus said to His disciples, “Blessed are the eyes which see these things that you see” where we re

And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately,

Blessed are the eyes which see the things that you see:

The verse reads, “And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, ...” Luke began with the words, “and he turned him” or “and Jesus twisted and turned Himself” “unto his disciples” which means “toward Jesus' students, pupils and attendants”, “and said privately” or “and uttered, declared and proclaimed alone, apart and severally” the following words. Luke shared how Jesus “turned” toward His disciples and quietly declared the following words.

The verse continues, “... Blessed are the eyes which see the things that you see:” Luke added the word, “Blessed” which means “oh how happy, fortunate, supremely fortunate and well off” “are the eyes” or “are the physical eyes for seeing” “which see” which means “that perceive, behold, understand, notice, discern and discover” “the things that you see” or “the things in the that were perceived, understood, noticed, discerned and discovered by Jesus' disciples”. Luke shared how Jesus told His disciples their “eyes” were “blessed” because they were exposed to the “things” Jesus showed them concerning the Kingdom of God.

When we consider Luke's words in this verse, we see how Jesus told His disciples they were “fortunate” to be able to “see” the things they saw concerning God's Kingdom. Not everyone was exposed to God's “ideas, principles, actions and activities”, and when Jesus allowed His disciples to “perceive and understand” them, they were put in an advantageous position. God wants to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus Christ, and those who are given the opportunity to know Him are as “blessed” as Jesus' disciples on earth.

Next time Luke shares how Jesus says to His disciples, “many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which you see”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
