Who Touched Jesus? - Luke 8:45

The beloved physician Luke wrote, “there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house. For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him. And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, came behind him, and touched the border of his garment:

and immediately her issue of blood stanched”, and in chapter eight and verse forty-five of his book Luke shared how Jesus asks, “who touched me?” where we read:

And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng you and press you, and say you, Who touched me?

The verse reads, “And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, ... Luke began with the words, “and Jesus said” or “and the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation uttered, declared and proclaimed”, “who touched me” which means “what person fastened themselves, adhere to and clung to Jesus”? “When all denied” or “at the time and moment each, every, the whole and everyone disregarded their own interest or proved false to themselves”, “Peter” which refers to “Jesus' disciples whose name means a little rock or stone” “and they that were with him” which means “and the disciples who were alongside of Peter”, “said” or “uttered, declared and proclaimed” the following words. Luke shared how Jesus questioned the people in the crowd as to “who” “fastened themselves” to Him, and “when” all the people “refused” to confess to Jesus' question, “Peter” along with the other disciples asked Him the following question.

The verse goes on to say, “... Master, the multitude throng you and press you, and say you, Who touched me?” Luke continued with the word, “Master” which means “teacher or instructor” “the multitude throng you” or “the great crowd of people press against, constrain and seize you Jesus” “and press you” which means “and squeeze upon you from all sides”, “and say you” or “and utter, declare, proclaim and question you Jesus”, “who touched me” which means “what person fastened themselves, adhere to and clung to Jesus Himself”? Luke shared how Peter questioned Jesus as to why He would ask “who touched” Him when there were so many people crowded around and squeezing Him on every side.

When we think through Luke's words in this verse, we see how Jesus knew someone “touched” Him in a significant way, so He asked who did. Peter and the other disciples wondered why He would ask such a question with so many people hovering around Him. Jesus knows when people reach out and “touch” Him in faith, and He is always attentive to them when they do. God wants people to reach out to Him through His Son Jesus, and when they come to Him in faith and belief, they shall find that He not only will acknowledge them, but also will provide everything they need for all eternity.

Next time Luke shares how Jesus says, “somebody has touch me”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
