A Sharp Sword in His Mouth Revelation 19:15

An “angel” from heaven showed John the apostle many things which will occur in the tribulation time on the earth, and John wrote about commercial Babylon's destruction and the people who were affected by it. John wrote about great worship which occurred in heaven afterward and then shared, “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he does judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean”, and in Revelation chapter nineteen and verse fifteen John saw “out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it he should mite the nations” where we read:

And out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treads the wine-press of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

The verse reads, And out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: John began with the words, “and out of his mouth” which means “from the orifice in the face of the One upon the white horse which is used for eating, drinking and speaking” “goes” or “proceeds and flows forth” “a sharp sword” which means “a swift, quick and keen long Thracian javelin”, “that with it” which means “that with the sword” “he should smite” or “the One on the white horse should strike, afflict, cut down, slay and kill” “the nations” which means “the companies, troops, multitudes of individuals of the same nature or genus”: “and he shall rule them” or “and the One on the white horse will govern over” “with a rod” which means “with a staff, walking stick and royal scepter” “of iron” or “made of iron”. John saw how a “quick and keen sword” came from the “mouth” of Jesus so that He might “strike, afflict and govern over the nations” with His “iron rod”.

The verse goes on to say, “ and he treads the wine-press of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.” John continued with the words, “and he treads” which means “the One upon the white horse will trample and crush with His feet” “the wine-press” or “the tub or trough shaped receptacle or vat in which grapes are trodden” “of the fierceness” which means “pertaining to the passion, anger, heat, glow and ardor” “and wrath” or “anger, temper, movement or agitation of the soul, impulse, desire and violent emotion” “of Almighty” which means “pertaining to the One who hold sway over all things and is ruler of all” “God” which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. John saw how the One upon the “white horse” or Jesus “tramples” with “passion, heated anger” and the “wrath” of God Almighty.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we see Jesus coming in power and authority. He no longer comes as the “suffering Savior” but as the mighty conquering King who shall have “rule” over all the “nations” of the world. With only the “sharp sword” or His “word” within His mouth, He shall reign with a “rod of iron” over all the earth. God Almighty will pour out His “wrath” upon the world at this time, and the only way to avoid it is to be in a relationship with Him through His Son Jesus. Those who are wise will take heed to the warning concerning the powerful and “fierce” One upon the “white horse” well in advance of Him coming in “passionate wrath”.

Next time John saw how,“he has on his vesture and on his thigh...KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
