Alleluia and Eternal Smoke Revelation 19:3

An “angel” from heaven showed John the apostle many things which will occur in the tribulation time on the earth, and John wrote about commercial Babylon's destruction and the people who were affected by it. In chapter nineteen and verse one thru two of Revelation, John wrote, “And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honor, and power, unto the Lord our God: For true and righteous are his judgments: for he has judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and has avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.”, and in verse three John shares how the “great multitude” says, “”Alleluia” as the “city of Babylon's smoke rose up for ever and ever” where we read:

And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.

The verse reads, And again they said, Alleluia. John began with the words, “and again” which means “and another time” “they said” or “the great multitude uttered, declared and proclaimed”, “Alleluia” which means “praise you the Lord”. John heard the “great multitude” declare “praise” unto God Almighty.

The verse continues, “And her smoke rose up for ever and ever. John added the words, “and her smoke rose up” which means “and the city of Babylon's smoke as from a burning ascended, mounted, sprung and arose” “for ever and ever” or “to the unbroken age, eternity and perpetuity of time”. The “great multitude” shared how the burning smoke of city of “Babylon” will ascend forever.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we can imagine this awesome sight and declaration as the “great multitude” in heaven breaks forth in praise unto God for His judgment upon the “city of Babylon”. This temporary wealthy city was vanished and burned because God judged her for the “spiritual fornication” and “idolatry” she brought upon the world. God offers “salvation” through His Son Jesus Christ from any temporary alternative to worshiping Him. Those who are wise shall consider the praise of this “great multitude”, and the residual “smoke” of the “city of Babylon”.

Next time John sees the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshiped God “, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
