Great Hail Revelation 16:21

As John continued to share concerning the events during the tribulation, He wrote about the antichrist, the false prophet and the angels who were involved in the reaping of the harvest of believers who received the Lord Jesus during that time. John wrote about the first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth angel pouring out their “vials filled with the wrath of God”, and he continued by writing, “And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.”. In chapter sixteen and verse twenty-one of Revelation John shared how“there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven” where we read:

And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.

The verse reads, And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: John began with the words, “and there fell” which means “and there came down, descended and was sent” “upon men” or “on people whether male or female” “a great hail” which refers to “large, massive and abundant frozen precipitation or ice” “out of heaven” which means “from the the aerial heavens or sky and region where the clouds and the tempests gather where thunder and lightning are produced”, “and every stone” or “and each, all, the whole and everyone of the frozen particles” “about the weight” which means “weighed or were as heavy as that” “of a talent” or about “one or two hundred pounds”. John saw huge “hail” fall from the sky which weighed around one hundred pounds if compared to silver and about two hundred pound if compared to gold.

The verse goes on to say, “and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.” John continued with the words “and men” which refers to “and people both male and female” “blasphemed” or “spoke reproachfully of, reviled, calumniated and railed upon” “God” or “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “because of” or “on account and by reason of” “the plague” which means “the wound, public calamity and heavy affliction” “of the hail” or “from the frozen precipitation”' “for the plague” which means “because the wound, public calamity and heavy affliction” “thereof” or “from it” “was exceeding great” which means “in high decree and vehemently massive, huge and abundant”. Though these “huge” frozen stones were raining upon the people of the earth, they continued to “rail against and speak reproachfully” about God.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we marvel at the reaction of the people upon the earth to such tragic circumstances. Huge “hail” from the skies weighing as much as one to two hundred pounds each will pummel property and people everywhere, and yet, people will “rail” upon God. Though God desires to have a relationship with every person through His Son Jesus Christ, many continue to “speak reproachfully” about Him today, and no matter what happens to them, even “huge hailstones” falling from the sky will not convince them to turn to Him.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see one of the “seven angels” tell John, Come here; I will show unto you the judgment of the great whore that sits upon many waters”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
