As
John continued to share concerning the events during the tribulation,
He wrote about the antichrist, the false prophet and the angels who
were involved in the reaping of the harvest of believers who received
the Lord Jesus during that time.
John wrote about the seven angels who “poured
out”
their “vials”
filled with the “wrath of God” upon the earth, sea, atmosphere
and cities.
He added, “And
there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and
talked with me, saying unto me, Come here; I will show unto you the
judgment of the great whore that sits upon many waters: with whom the
kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of
the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. So
he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a
woman sit upon a scarlet colored beast, full of names of blasphemy,
having seven heads and ten horns. And the woman was arrayed in purple
and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones and
pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and
filthiness of her fornication: And upon her forehead was
a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND
ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH”,
and in chapter seventeen and verse six of Revelation John shared how
the woman was“drunken
with the blood of the saints”
where
we read:
And
I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the
blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with
great admiration.
The
verse reads, “And
I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the
blood of the martyrs of Jesus:”
John began with the words,
“and I saw”
which means “and John noticed, perceived, discovered and discerned”
“the
woman”
or “the female who was shown to him by the angel” “drunken”
which means “intoxicated and drunk well” “with
the blood”
which means “with the violence, slaying, murder and bloodshed”
“of
the saints”
or “which belonged to the pure, morally blameless and the
religiously and ceremonially consecrated”, “and
with the blood”
which means “along with the violence, slaying, murder and
bloodshed” “of
the martyrs”
or “which belonged to the genuine and faithful witnesses of Jesus
Christ who suffered violent deaths” “of
Jesus”
whose name means “Jehovah is Salvation” and is “the Son of God,
the Savior of mankind and God incarnate”. John saw how this “woman”
named
“MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT”
was filled with the “bloodshed” of both the
“saints” and
the “martyrs”
of Jesus.
The
verse continues, “and
when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.”
John added the words “and
when”
which means “at the time and moment” “I
saw her” or
“John noticed,
perceived, discovered and discerned the woman”,
“I
wondered”
which means “John marveled” “with
great admiration”
or “with a massive, abundant and exceeding marvel and wonder”.
John “exceedingly marveled and wondered” at this “woman”
with such great influence.
When
we consider John's words in this verse, we see how this “woman”
or “spiritual fornication” was the reason for the “bloodshed”
and abuse of Christians who followed Jesus Christ. This alternate and
false religious system will be followed by those who oppose God in
the tribulation, and the “spirit” of it is alive and well today.
When a person puts their belief and trust in any other religious
system that a relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ,
they have followed after “spiritual fornication”. The system
implemented by Satan, the antichrist and the false prophet will be
one in which Christians at that time will suffer greatly, but those
who put their “faith and trust” in Jesus shall not be a part of
this horrific and tragic time.
