An
“angel”
from heaven showed John the apostle many things which will occur in
the tribulation time on the earth, and John wrote about commercial
Babylon's destruction and the people who were affected by it. John
wrote about great worship which occurred in heaven afterward and then
shared,
“And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat
upon him was
called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he does judge and make
war. His eyes were
as a flame of fire, and on his head were
many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he
himself. And he was
clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The
Word of God. And the armies which
were
in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen,
white and clean. And out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that with
it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of
iron: and he treads the wine-press of the fierceness and wrath of
Almighty God. And he has on his
vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF
LORDS.” John
continued, “And
I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice,
saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and
gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; That you
may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh
of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them,
and the flesh of all men,
both
free and bond, both small and great. And I saw the beast, and the
kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war
against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. And the
beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles
before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of
the beast, and them that worshiped his image. These both were cast
alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone”,
and in Revelation chapter nineteen and verse twenty-one John sees how
the “the
remnant were slain”
where
we read:
And the remnant were
slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse,
The
verse reads, “
And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the
horse, ...”
John began with the words, “and
the remnant”
which means “and the rest and residue who remained” “were
slain”
or “were killed, destroyed, perished, abolished and inflicted with
mortal death” “with
the sword”
which means “alongside and by a long Thracian javelin or a kind of
long sword which was worn on the right soldier” “of
him”
which means “of the One” “that
sat”
or “who was seated, fixed, established and sitting” “upon
the horse”
which refers to “on the white
horse”.
John saw how all the rest of the people who were left within the
“armies”
of the “antichrist and false
prophet”
were “killed and destroyed” by the
“sword”
of Jesus.
The
verse goes on to say, “which
sword
proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their
flesh.”
John continued with the words, “which
sword”
which means “pertaining to the long Thracian javelin or a kind of
long sword which was worn on the right soldier” “proceeded”
or
“going forth, flowing and departing from” “out
of his mouth”
which means “away from the orifice in the face used for eating,
drinking and talking of the One on the white horse”: “and
all”
or “and each, every, the whole and everyone of” “the
fowls”
which refers to “the birds”
“were filled”
or “were satisfied and fattened with” “with
their flesh”
which means “with the bodies of the people within the antichrist's
and false prophet's armies”. John learned how the “birds” of
the air were going to be “filled” with the “flesh”
of the “armies”
that remained after the “antichrist and false
prophet”
were “thrown into the
lake of fire and brimstone”.
When
we consider John's words in this verse, we see how those who align
themselves with the “antichrist” and “the
false prophet”
shall also be destroyed by Jesus. People will believe they are right
to align with these two evil men, but in doing so they will be
directly opposed to Jesus Christ. These people will be destroyed by
the “sword”
of Jesus, and the birds of the air shall feed upon their bodies. God
desires to save everyone from this horrific fate by having a
relationship with His Son Jesus well in advance of these events, and
those who are wise shall receive Him as their personal “Savior and
Lord” today.
