The Beast and His Army Against Jesus and His Army Revelation 19:19

An “angel” from heaven showed John the apostle many things which will occur in the tribulation time on the earth, and John wrote about commercial Babylon's destruction and the people who were affected by it. John wrote about great worship which occurred in heaven afterward and then shared, “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he does judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treads the wine-press of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God” and how Jesus had on his “vesture” and “thigh”, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS”. He continued, “And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God. That you may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.”, and in Revelation chapter nineteen and verse nineteen John sees the “the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war ” where we read:

And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

The verse reads, And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, ... John began with the words, “and I saw” which means “and John notice, perceived, discovered and discerned” “the beast” or “the ferocious, brutal and savage living being”, “and the kings” which means “and the rulers, princes, commanders and lords” “of the earth” which means “belonging to the arable land, country, territory and region”, “and their armies” or “and the bodyguards, guardsmen and band of soldiers”. John watched as the “beast” or “antichrist” along with the “leaders and rulers” in the world assembled their “soldiers”.

The verse goes on to say, “... gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.” John continued with the words, “gathered together” which means “assembled ” “to make war” or “to fight, battle and strive” “against him” which means “in opposition to Jesus” “that sat” or “who was seated, fixed, firm and riding” “on the horse” which refers to “upon the horse”, “and against” or “and in opposition to” “his army” which refers to “Jesus' soldiers, guardsmen and bodyguards”. John watched as the two opposing sides mounted up to go to “battle” against one another.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we can imagine this gathering of troops to go to “war” against one another. On the one side, Jesus and His believers who are riding upon white horses. On the other side are the “antichrist” and his soldiers along with “leaders and rulers” throughout the world. This will be a battle like none before as the “world” and it's armies attempt to fight against God and His Son Jesus Christ for the position of power to reign upon the earth. God will win, and it will be without much fanfare or effort as He is All-Powerful and no one can oppose Him successfully. Let all who read these words take heed to this warning of the “battle” among “battles” and choose to receive Jesus Christ as a personal “Savior and Lord” before they line up in battle against Him.

Next time John sees how, “the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet … and cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
