Jesus Preaching in Galilee - Luke 4:44

Luke the beloved physician shared how, “devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, You are Christ the Son of God. And” Jesus “rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ. And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them. And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent”, and in chapter four and verse forty-four of his book Luke shared how Jesus, “preached in the synagogues of Galilee” where we read:

And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.

The verse reads,And he preached ... Luke began with the words, “and he preached” or “and Jesus heralded, proclaimed, published openly and proclaimed”. Luke shared how Jesus continued to “herald” the Kingdom of God.

The verse continues,... in the synagogues of Galilee. Luke added the words, “in the synagogue” which means “within the sacred worship places which was comprised of an assembly of Jews formally gathered together to offer prayers and listen to the reading and expositions of the scriptures” “of Galilee” or “belonging to Galilee which means circuit and was the name of a region of northern Palestine, bounded on the north by Syria, on the west by Sidon, Tyre, Ptolemais and their territories and the promontory of Carmel, on the south by Samaria and on the east by the Jordan”. Luke shared how Jesus continued to “preach” within the “sacred worship assemblies” throughout the “Galilee” area.

When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we see how Jesus continued His primary ministry among people. Jesus “preached” concerning the “Kingdom of God” and the “gospel” or “good news” that God desired to have a personal relationship with mankind. God sent His Son to the earth to die for their sins because sins kept them separated from Him. When Jesus died upon the cross, He took the sins of the whole world upon Him, For he has made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (See 1 Corinthians 5:21), and now all who believe and trust in Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord” shall be forgiven of their sins and inherit everlasting life. Let all who consider the preaching of Jesus yield their lives to Him and turn from sin that keeps them separated from God.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see Luke share, “as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
