The Fame of Jesus - Luke 4:37

Luke the physician shared how the people who saw Jesus take dominion over an unclean spirit, “were all amazed, and spoke among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out”, and in chapter four and verse thirty-seven of his book Luke shared how, “the fame of him went out into every place” where we read:

And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.

The verse reads,And the fame of him went out ... Luke began with the words, “and the fame of him” or “and the noise, rumor and report about Jesus” “went out” which means “spread abroad from the mouth of one to another”. Luke shared how people began to hear about Jesus as the reports of Him spread far and wide.

The verse goes on to say,... into every place of the country round about. Luke continued with the words, “into every place” which means “into each, all, the whole and everywhere throughout the habitations, cities, villages and districts” “of the country round about” or “belonging to the neighborhoods, regions and territories all around them”. Luke shared how the news of Jesus spread to all the neighboring “cities and villages” which were circumjacent to Capernaum.

When we consider Luke's words in this verse, we see how the “reports” of Jesus spread throughout all the surrounding areas because of His teachings and power. God's desire is for the entire world to know about His “gospel” concerning Jesus His Son, and because He wants to have a loving personal relationship with every person, He wants people share about Jesus with one another. God loves people, and He sent His Son Jesus to die for their sins which separated them from Him. When a person yields their life to His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”, they shall receive forgiveness of their sins, be in a personal relationship with God and inherit everlasting life. Let all the world know about Jesus and His saving grace who wants every person to live forever with Him.

Next time Luke shares how Jesus, “arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
