In the book of Daniel, Daniel prayed, “blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his. And he changes the times and the seasons: he removes kings, and sets up kings: he gives wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding. He reveals the deep and secret things: he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him. I thank you, and praise you, O you God of my fathers, who has given me wisdom and might, and have made known unto me now what we desired of you: for you have now made known unto us the king's matter. Therefore Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king had ordained to destroy the wise men of Babylon: he went and said thus unto him; Destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring me in before the king, and I will show unto the king the interpretation”, and in Daniel chapter two and verse twenty-five Daniel shared how Arioch told King Nebuchadnezzar, “I have found a man … that will make known … the interpretation” where we read,
Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste, and said thus unto him,
I have found a man of the captives of Judah, that will make known unto the king the interpretation.
The verse reads, “Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste, and said thus unto him, ...” Daniel began with the words, “then Arioch” or “at that time Arioch whose name means lion-like” “brought in Daniel” which means “carried and led forth Daniel whose name means God is my judge” “before the king in haste” or “in front and in the presence of they royal ruler, Nebuchadnezzar, quickly and in a hurry”, “and said thus unto him” which means “and uttered, declared and proclaimed the following words to him, King Nebuchadnezzar”. Daniel shared how “Arioch”quickly brought Daniel into the presence of King Nebuchadnezzar and declared to him the following words.
The verse goes on to say, “... I have found a man of the captives of Judah, that will make known unto the king the interpretation.” Daniel continued with the words, “I have found a man” which means “I, Arioch, have discovered a male human being”; “of the captives of Judah” or “within the exiled ones belonging to Judah whose name means praised and was the territory or tribe of Judah”, “that will make known unto the king” which means “who will expose, reveal and inform the royal ruler of” “the interpretation” or “the rendering and meaning”. Daniel shared how “Arioch” told King Nebuchadnezzar that he had discovered a “man” within the people of “Judah” who would reveal the meaning and rendering of the “dream” to him.
When we think through Daniel's words in this verse, we discover how “Arioch” went into action after “Daniel” told him that he could reveal and interpret King Nebuchadnezzar's “dream”. He took “Daniel” into the presence of the king and told him he had discovered a man within people of “Judah” who was able to “interpret” his mental imagery. God revealed the king's “dream” to “Daniel” because it was part of His plan of Salvation for mankind. God knew mankind needed a “Savior”, so He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of everyone. He was resurrected from the grave three days later, and all who put their faith and trust in Him will be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and given His Holy Spirit to guide them into all truth and empower them to live according to that truth even as “Daniel” did.
Next time Daniel shares how King Nebuchadnezzar asks Daniel, “are you able to make known unto me the dream?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
