A Living Soul - the First Man Adam 1 Corinthians 15:45

Paul the apostle shared with the church members in Corinth, There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body, and in chapter fifteen and verse forty-five of First Corinthians, Paul told the church members “the first man Adam was made a living soul”, where we read:

And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul;
the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

The verse begins, And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul;” Paul began with the words, “And so it is written” or “and thus and in this manner it is expressed and composed in characters”, “the first man” which means “the first in rank, influence, honor and chief male person” “Adam” which means “the red earth” and was “the first man and the parent of the whole human family “was made” which means “became, came to pass as and happened” “a living soul” or “a breathing, among the living, active, full of vigor, fresh strong, efficient and efficacious living being with the seat of the feelings, desires, affections and aversions”. Paul referred to the creation of “Adam” who was the “first” person to become a “living soul”.

The verse goes on to say, the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.” Paul continued with the words, “the last” which means “the extreme, uttermost part, end and latter” “Adam” which means “the red earth” or “parent of the whole human family” “was made” which means “became, came to pass as and happened” “a quickening spirit” or “an alive, aroused, invigorate and springing forth vital principal by which the body is animated and power by which the human being feels, thinks and decides”. The “last Adam” is a reference to Jesus Christ who “making alive” “spirit”.

When we meditate upon these words from Paul, we see his reference going back as far as “the first man” who was “Adam”. He was given “life”, and became the progenitor of all mankind, however, the second “Adam” who was Jesus Christ, gave “eternal life” to everyone who believes and trusts in Him. Jesus provided a way to live beyond the grave, and when we realize we are part of the “human race” that shall die, but if we submit our lives to Jesus, we shall enjoy the “quickening spirit” He has been made to be.

Next time Paul shares with the church members how, “that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
