Paul
the apostle declared to the church members in Corinth concerning the
body, “that
was
not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural;”,
and in
chapter fifteen and verse forty-seven of First Corinthians, Paul told
the church members the difference between, “the
first man” and
“the second man”, where
we read:
The
verse begins, “The
first man is
of the earth, earthy:” Paul
began with the words, “the first man”
or “the
first in rank, place, succession, influence and honor male human
being” “is of the earth”
which means “the arable land, ground and main land as opposed to
the sea or water”, “earthy”
or “made of the earth, dust or dirt and by implication terrain”.
Paul shared how “Adam”,
the first human being, was made from the “dust or dirt” “of
the earth”.
The
verse continues, “the
second man is
the Lord from heaven.” Paul
added the words, “the second man”
which means
“the other of the two male human beings” “is
the Lord”
or “he to whom a person or thing belongs about which he has power
of deciding; master and the title given to God the Messiah” “from
heaven”
which means “out of the region above the sidereal heavens and the
seat of order of things eternal and consummately perfect where God
dwells and other heavenly beings ”. Paul shared how the “second
man”,
which refers to Jesus Christ, was from “heaven”.
When
we consider these words from Paul, we see the order of “men” who
were the beginning of the “natural” and “spiritual”
bodies. Adam was the first human being, and because Adam and his wife
Eve sinned, there was a need for a “second man”, Jesus,
who would die sins and offer Himself as the sacrifice for the
salvation of all people. Adam was formed from the dust of the earth,
and Jesus descended from heaven to dwell among people. He died for
their sins, and rose again the third day afterwards. Now the
“spiritual” man has been established, and all who believe
and trust in Him shall receive eternal life. May all glory be to God
the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit through whom all these
things come.
Next
time Paul shares with
the church members,
“as is
the earthy” and
“they
also that are heavenly”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
