Reading and Acknowledging 2 Corinthians 1:13

As Paul the apostle continued to share with the church members in Corinth, he told them how they were,“rejoicing in this, the testimony of our consciencewhich was “toward” them. In chapter one and verse thirteen of Second Corinthians, Paul referred to what he and his companions wrote which the church members, “read or acknowledge” in his life toward the church members, where we read:

For we write none other things unto you, than what you read or acknowledge;
and I trust you shall acknowledge even to the end;

The verse begins, “For we write none other things unto you, than what you read or acknowledge;Paul began with the word, “for” which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and therefore” “we write” or “Paul and his companions express in written characters on a tablet, parchment, paper or other material” “none other things” which means “not anything otherwise” “unto you” or “to the church members”, “than what you read” which means “than what the church members distinguish between, recognize and know” “or acknowledge” or “or become thoroughly acquainted with or know thoroughly and accurately”. Paul didn't add anything to his writing to the Corinthians other than what they already “knew and with which they were acquainted”.

The verse goes on to say, and I trust you shall acknowledge even to the end; Paul continued with the words, “and I trust” which means “Paul hoped with joy and full confidence toward” “you” which refers to the “church members” “acknowledge” or “or become thoroughly acquainted with or know thoroughly and accurately“even to the end” or “also and indeed till the termination, limit at which a thing ceases to be”. Paul had confidence that the church members would continue to “be acquainted with and thoroughly know” what he and his companions wrote.

When we consider these words from Paul, we see how he had confidence not only in what he wrote to the Corinthians, but also how the church members would “recognize” and “know thoroughly” what he said. God gives opportunities for people to know Him and His words through His Son Jesus Christ, and the best they can do is to “read, acknowledge and keep acknowledging” what He has to say. There is no better place to put our confidence and hope than in the word of God, and may the Lord help us by the Holy Spirit to keep what He proclaims unto the very “end”.

Next time Paul shares about “acknowledginghe and his companions, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
