Paul the apostle declared
to the church members in Corinth, “In
a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the
trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and
we shall be changed.”,
and in chapter fifteen
and verse fifty-three of First Corinthians, Paul shared with the
church members how, “this
mortal must put on immortality”, where we
read:
For this
corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must
put on immortality.
The verse begins, “For
this corruptible must put on incorruption,”
Paul began with the word, “for”
or “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then,
verily and therefore” “this corruptible”
which means “this perishing and decaying body” “must”
or “it is necessary, in need, behooves and is right and proper to”
“put on” which
means “sink into and be clothe with” “incorruption”
or “immortality, perpetuity, purity and sincerity”. Paul stated
that the “perishing and decaying body” needs to be clothed with a
body that is “immortal, pure and sincere” and will remain in
“perpetuity”.
The verse goes
on to say, “and
this mortal must
put on immortality.”
Paul added the words, “and
this mortal” which means “this body that
is liable to death and dying” “must”
or “it is necessary, in need, behooves and is right and proper to”
“put on” which
means “sink into and be clothe with” “immortality”
which refers to “undying and everlasting life”. Paul declared
that earthly bodies are subject to dying and death and must be
“clothed” with new bodies that shall never die and live
eternally.
When we consider these
words from Paul, we see our need for a new body in order to enter
God's kingdom. Our earthly bodies are “corruptible” and
subject to “death”, but the bodies of which Paul shared shall not
only last forever, but also shall “clothe” us in “purity and
sincerity”. Jesus Christ gave His life that we may be “clothed in
bodies of incorruption and immortality”, and let everyone
know the wonderful gift provided by the Heavenly Father through Jesus
Christ His Son.
Next
time Paul tells the
church members when,
“Death
is swallowed up in victory.”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
