All the Brethren Greet You 1 Corinthians 16:20

Paul the apostle told the church members in Corinth, The churches of Asia salute you as well as “Aquila and Priscilla” and in chapter sixteen and verse nineteen of First Corinthians, Paul shares with the church members how “all the brethren greet you”, where we read:

All the brethren greet you. Greet ye one another with a holy kiss.

The verse begins, All the brethren greet you” Paul began with the word, “all” which means “each, every, any, the whole and everyone of” the brethren” or “fellow believers who are united to another by the bond of affection” “greet you” which means “salute, bid welcome, wish well and receive joyfully the church members”. “All” of the companions with Paul “saluted” and “wished well” the church members of Corinth.

The verse goes on to say, Greet one another with a holy kiss. Paul added the word, “Greet” which means “salute, bid welcome, wish well and receive joyfully“one another” which refers to “reciprocally and mutually to each other” “with a holy kiss” or “with a pure, blameless and ceremonially consecrated sign of fraternal affection”. Paul encouraged the church members to “salute” and “wish well” as well as giving “ceremonially pure” gestures of affection to one another .

When we meditate upon these words from Paul, we see the importance of simply “greeting” one another. Many times rather than being “saluted” and “wished well” people are ignored or disregarded. Christians must never be so as the “gospel message” might be disparaged by the lack of concern. Jesus Christ cares for people, and the simple gesture of “greeting” others in a “pure” and “kind” way may be the opening for sharing Jesus with those to whom we salute.

Next time Paul shares with the church members how, “the salutation of me Paul”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
