Paul
the apostle declared to the church members in Corinth, “as
we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image
of the heavenly”,
and in
chapter fifteen and verse fifty of First Corinthians, Paul told the
church members “flesh and blood cannot
inherit the kingdom of God”, where
we read:
Now
this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom
of God;
neither
does corruption inherit incorruption.
The
verse begins, “Now
this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom
of God;” Paul
began with the word, “Now” or
“moreover and” “this I say”
which means “Paul declares, utters and proclaims”, “brethren”
or “fellow believers who united to another by the bond of
affection”, “that flesh”
which means “the soft substance of the living body which covers the
bones and is permeated with blood” “and
blood” or
“the life giving blood of the physical body” “cannot”
which means “in no way is able to” “inherit”
or “receive by lot, allotted portion or as a possession as an
heir”, “the kingdom”
which refers to “the royal power, kingship, dominion and rule”
“of God”
or “pertaining to the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised
of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit. Paul declared
the “physical body” in no way was able to “possess as a heir”
God's “dominion and rule”.
The
verse continues, “
neither does corruption inherit incorruption.”
Paul added
the words, “neither” which
means “not or nor even” “ does
corruption”
or “destruction, moral decay and that which is perishing”
“inherit
which means “receive by lot, allotted portion or as a possession as
an heir” “incorruption”
or “perpetuity, purity and sincerity”. Paul added that which is
“perishing and with moral decay” cannot “possess as an heir”
that which last in “perpetuity and purity”.
When
we consider these words from Paul, we see why there is a need for a
“spiritual body”. Our fleshly bodies cannot “receive” God's
kingdom, and He desires for us to “inherit” it. Our
“corrupt bodies” need to be changed to “incorruptible”
ones, and then we may “receive” God's “dominion and
rule”. Jesus Christ desires for everyone to receive Him as “Savior
and Lord” and when they do, God's kingdom awaits.
Next
time Paul tells
the church members,
“I show
you a mystery”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
