Paul
the apostle declared to the church members in Corinth, “the
first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from
heaven”,
and in
chapter fifteen and verse forty-eight of First Corinthians, Paul
shares with the church members concerning, “the
earthy” and
“the heavenly”, where
we read:
and as
is
the heavenly, such are
they also that are heavenly.
The verse begins, “As
is
the earthy, such are
they also that are earthy:” Paul
began with the words, “as is the
earthly” or
“made of the earth, dust or dirt and by implication terrain”,
“such are they also”
which means “of this kind or sort are the people” “that
are earthy”
or “made of the earth, dust or dirt and by implication terrain”.
Paul referred to people who are formed from the “dust” within it.
The
verse goes on to say, “and
as is
the heavenly, such are
they also that are heavenly.” Paul
added the words, “and as is the
heavenly” which
means “that which exists and takes place in heaven and the heavenly
regions”, “such are they also”
or “of this kind or sort are the people” “that
are heavenly”
which means “that which exists and takes place in heaven and the
heavenly regions”. People who are concerned with “things in
heaven” live in a “heavenly”
manner.
When
we meditate upon these words from Paul, we understand the difference
between the “earthy” things and the “heavenly” things.
People who observe only the things of the “earth” are
indeed “earthy”, and those who are concerned with the
things of “heaven” are indeed “heavenly”. Jesus
Christ desires for all people to have a “heaven”
consciousness, and when we receive Him as “Savior and Lord”, we
find ourselves aligning with the eternal. May we be as those who are
“heavenly” minded, and as we live in our “earthy”
bodies, may our lives reflect the eternal nature of Jesus.
Next
time Paul shares with
the church members how the body,
“borne
in the image of the earthly” and
shall “also
bear the image of the heavenly”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
