Paul
the apostle told the church members in Corinth, “All
flesh is not
the same flesh: but there is
one kind of
flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and
another of birds”,
and in
chapter fifteen and verse forty of First Corinthians, Paul told the
church members in Corinth how, “there are
celestial and terrestrial bodies”,
where we read:
but
the glory of the celestial is
one, and the glory
of the terrestrial is
another.
The
verse begins, “There
are also celestial bodies, and bodies
terrestrial:” Paul
began with the words, “there are
also” or
“even and indeed” “celestial”
which means “heavenly” “bodies”
or “living corpses”, “and
bodies” or
“and living corpses” “terrestrial”
which means “upon the earth or earthy”. Paul referred to both
“heavenly and earthly” “bodies”.
The
verse continues, “
...but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the
terrestrial is another” Paul
added the word, “but” which
is a disassociation conjunction that means what is about to be
written takes precedence over what was just stated “the
glory”
which means the “splendor and brightness” “of
the celestial”
which means “heavenly” “is one”
or “a single nature, form, class or kind”, “and
the glory of the terrestrial”
which refers to “the splendor and brightness of the earthly” “is
another”
or “an other nature form, class or kind”. The “heavenly” and
“earthly” bodies each have their own “brightness and splendor”.
When
we think through these words from Paul, we see how he used both
“heavenly and earthly bodies” to reaffirm the idea that the
“resurrected” body shall be different than the first one. God has
a plan for a resurrected body for believers in Jesus Christ, and when
we surrender our lives to Him, we may rely upon His faithfulness who
has not only given us an “earthly body” in which to dwell, but
shall also provide a “heavenly body” as well.
Next
time Paul shares with
the church members how,
“there is one glory of the
sun, moon and stars”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
