Paul
the apostle declared to the church members in Corinth, “O
death, where is
your sting? O grave, where is
your victory?”,
and in
chapter fifteen and verse fifty-six of First Corinthians, Paul told
the church members what will happen, “the
sting of death is sin”, where
we read:
The
verse begins, “The
sting of death is
sin;” Paul
began with the words, “the sting”
or “such
as the sting of bees, scorpions or locust; an iron goad for urging on
oxen, horses or other beasts of burden; a prick” “of
death”
which means “separation of the soul and the body by which the life
on earth is ended” “is sin”
or “is to err, miss the mark, be mistaken, do wrong and wander
from the law of God”. “death”, according to Paul, is the result
and “sting” of
“sin”
within a person.
The
verse goes on to say, “...and
the strength of sin is
the law.” Paul
continued with the words, “and the
strength” which
means “the power and ability” “of
sin” or
“of error, missing the mark, being mistaken, doing wrong and
wandering from the law of God” “is
the law”
which means “the rule producing a state approved of God”. Paul
shared how the establishment of God's “law”
revealed the “sin”
and error that is within people.
When
we consider these words from Paul, we understand both the
consequences and the substantiating of God's “law”. God
established His “law” which exposed “sin”, and
when a person indulges in “sin”, the final result is the
“sting of death”. Jesus Christ came to “fulfill the
law”, and when He did, He defeated the “penalty” and
“effect” of “sin”. Now “death” is defeated,
and those who put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ shall never
“die eternally”. “Everlasting life” is promised to all
who believe, and “death's sting” is forever ineffective.
Next
time Paul gives “thanks
to God”
because God, “gives
us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
