Paul
the apostle told the church members in Corinth, “I
show you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be
changed”,
and in
chapter fifteen and verse fifty-two of First Corinthians, Paul shared
with the church members what will happen, “in
a moment, in the twinkling of an eye”,
where we read:
In a
moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the
trumpet shall sound,
and
the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
The
verse begins, “In
a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump:”
Paul began
with the words, “in a moment” or
“in an uncut, indivisible, cannot be cut in two or divided segment
of time”, “in the twinkling”
which means “in a jerk, stroke, beat or instant of time” “of
an eye” or
“the literal eye for vision and sight”,
“at the last trump”
which means “at the uttermost, end, final and farthest
reverberation through a trumpet”. Paul referred to an “instant”
or “moment” that is so quick that he liken it to the eye's
“twinkle”
when the final “trumpet” shall “blast”.
The
verse goes on to say, “for
the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible,
and we shall be changed.” Paul
added the words, “for the trumpet
shall sound”
or “because the trumpet shall blast”, “and
the dead”
which means “and those who have breathed their last, deceased,
departed, inanimate, without and destitute of life” “shall
be raised”
or “shall arouse, rise and appear” “incorruptible”
which means “uncorrupted, not liable to corruption or decay and
imperishable”, “and we shall”
or Paul and the fellow believers in the church “shall
be changed”
or “will be transformed or exchanged as one thing for another”.
This “final trumpet” shall blast aloud, and those who previously
“died” shall be resurrected from the dead to an “uncorrupted
and imperishable” body when all believers in Jesus Christ shall be
“transformed” into a body that shall never fade away.
When
we think through these words from Paul, we should be excited about
this “final trumpet” of God. This “instant” “moment”
shall be the flash of time that will “change” everyone who
believes in Jesus Christ, both alive and dead. to their new “eternal”
and “imperishable” bodies. Paul declared “we shall be
changed”, and when this occurs, we shall gain the body that
gives us the abiltiy to live with God. Oh let all who read understand
and believe these words of Paul, for “everlasting life” depends
upon them.
Next
time Paul shares with
the church members how,
“this mortal must put on
immortality”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
