John the apostle wrote how, “the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spoke, He that comes after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. And of his fullness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ”, and in chapter one and verse eighteen of his book, John shared how, “No man has see God at any time; the only begotten Son … has declared him” where we read:
No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten Son,
which is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared him.
The verse reads, “No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, ...” John began with the words, “no man” or “not one person whether male or female” “has see God” which means “has perceived, been aware of or discerned clearly the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “at any time” or “ever”; “the only begotten Son” which means “the single of His kind, only-born and sole head of the human family who both furnished the pattern of the perfect man who acted on behalf of all mankind”. John shared how “not one person” has ever “observed or perceived” “God”, however, God's Son Jesus has done the following.
The verse continues, “... which is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared him.” John added the words, “which is in the bosom” which means “who exists within the front of the body between the arms” “of the Father” or “belonging to the originator and transmitter of all things”, “he has declared him” which means “Jesus considered out aloud, unfolded and recounted God”. John shared how Jesus, who “exists” between the arms of God, revealed aloud what God is like.
When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus is the manifestation of His Father God. Jesus was God in the flesh who came to identify with mankind, die for the sins of everyone and provide forgiveness and eternal life to all who believe and trust in Him. Those who consider the life of Jesus should discover the ways of His Father God, and when they understand who He is, let them submit their lives to the One who reveals what God is like.
Next time John shares how, “this is the record of John”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
