The apostle John wrote how Jesus told the people looking for Him, “I came down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me. And this is the Father's will which has sent me, that of all which he has given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which sees the Son, and believes on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven. And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he said, I came down from heaven? Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves. No man can come to me, except the Father which has sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day”, and in chapter six and verse forty-five of his book, John shared how Jesus told the people, “they shall be all taught of God” where we read:
It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God.
Every man therefore that has heard, and has learned of the Father, comes unto me.
The verse reads, “It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God.”. John began with the words, “It is written” or “it is delineated or formed in letters on a tablet, parchment, paper or other material” “in the prophets” which means “within the ones who were moved by the Spirit of God and hence his organ or spokesman, solemnly declares to men what he has received by inspiration, especially concerning future events, and in particular such as relate to the cause and kingdom of God and to human salvation”, “and they shall be all taught” or “and the people will each, every, the whole and everyone be instructed and communicated by teaching” “of God” which means “from the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. John shared how Jesus told the “Jewish people” who were questioning Him, that the “prophets” of old wrote about people being instructed by God Himself.
The verse goes on to say, “Every man therefore that has heard, and has learned of the Father, comes unto me.” John continued with the words, “every man therefore” which means “each, the whole, all and every person whether male or female then, wherefore and these things being so” “that has heard” or “who has been endowed with the faculty for hearing, understanding and perceiving”, “and has learned” which means “and has increased in knowledge and are informed by use and practice” “of the Father” or “from God the Heavenly Father”, “comes unto me” which means “arises and appears to Jesus”. John shared how Jesus declared the key to “coming to Him” was to “hear and learn” from His Father God.
When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we see how Jesus said it was “prophesied” that people would be “taught by His Father God”, and everyone who “heard” and “learned” from God would “come” to Jesus. God loves people, and His desire is to have a personal relationship with every one of them. He “draws” them to Himself and His Son Jesus, and when they “hear” who Jesus is and “learn” about Him, they may accept or reject Him for who He is. Let all who “hear” and “learn” these words come to Jesus and surrender their lives to Him.
Next time John shares how Jesus tells the people, “not that any man has seen the Father, save he which is of God”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
