The apostle John wrote how, “Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias. And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased”, and in chapter six and verse three of his book, John shared how, “Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples” where we read:
And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.
The verse reads, “And Jesus went up into a mountain, ...”. John began with the words, “And Jesus” or “and the Son of God, the Savior of the world and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation” “went upon into a mountain” which means “journeyed up a hill or rising above the plain”. John shared how “Jesus” journeyed up onto a “mountainside” and did the following.
The verse continues, “... and there he sat with his disciples.” John added the words, “and there he sat” which means “and upon the mountain Jesus was seated” “with his disciples” or “alongside Jesus students, pupils and attendants”. John shared how Jesus not only “went up” the “mountain” and was seated alongside His “disciples”.
When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus went to a “mountainside” and was seated with His “disciples”. Jesus had ministered among the crowd who was lingering in the area where He was located. People liked Jesus, and because He “healed” many of them, they believed in Him. Jesus will serve these people even more in our next verses, but for now let us understand, He desires to be with anyone who will believe and trust in Him. Those who are wise will seek the presence of Jesus and submit their lives to Him to be their “Savior and Lord”.
Next time John shares how the time of, “passover … was near”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
