Jesus is the Bread of Life - John 6:35

The apostle John wrote when people found Jesus they asked Him, “what shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that you believe on him whom he has sent. They said therefore unto him, What sign show you then, that we may see, and believe you? what do you work? Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which comes down from heaven, and gives life unto the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread”, and in chapter six and verse thirty-five of his book, John shared how Jesus said, “I am the bread of life” where we read:

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that comes to me shall never hunger;

and he that believes on me shall never thirst.

The verse reads,And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that comes to me shall never hunger;”. John began with the words, “and Jesus said unto them” or “and the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation uttered, declared and proclaimed to the people who were questioning Him”, “I am the bread” which means “I, Jesus, exists as the food and nourishment” “of life” or “belonging to real and genuine which is active and vigorous, devoted to God, blessed in the portion even in this world of those who put their trust in Christ”: “he that comes to me” which means “the person whether male or female who arises and approaches me, Jesus” “shall never hunger” or “will not at any time suffer want or need”. John shared how Jesus told the people who were questioning Him that He was “life's” “spiritual bread” or “nourishment”, and whoever “approaches” or “surrenders” to Him will not suffer “want or need”.

The verse goes on to say, and he that believes on me shall never thirst.John continued with the words, “and he that believes on me” which means “and the person whether male or female who trusts in, relies upon and clings to Jesus” “shall never thirst” or “will not at any time suffer from thirst”. John shared how Jesus said the person who “trusts in” Him will not at any time “suffer from thirst”.

When we think through John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus proclaimed the “satisfaction” that is given to any person who yields their life to Him. Though “hunger and thirst” physically are normal desires for people, contentment in “spiritual hunger and thirst” is only found in a personal relationship with Jesus. Jesus was sent by His Father God to the earth to “satisfy” the inward need of people for Him, and when they submit themselves to Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive their sins and provide them with everlasting life and peace. Let all who are “hungry and thirsty” hear the words of Jesus and believe and trust in Him to be “satisfied”.

Next time John shares how Jesus says, “you also have seen me, and believe not”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
